Someone very close to me is struggling with health challenges and I've been wondering what to get her as a wish for renewal. Just something small from me to her. This, of course, aside from the usual: make dinner, send cards, call, e-mail and send all kinds of positive energy into the universe. I make sure I face toward the town she lives in when sending the energy, just so it has a clear path!!

Anyway, I'll see her on Friday — she's coming here for dinner and a menu of favorite foods — and I've decided to buy her a beautifully potted Bamboo Plant. It's considered lucky because of its ability to grow quickly and adapt to new environments, symbolizing both resilience and prosperity (see no. 59 in my book Dancing Under the Full Moon). While she could always use a bit more money (who couldn't these days?!?!), this is about wishing her abundance in health, about affirming her natural resilience and sending her home with a tangible symbol our prayers for wealth in the form of good health.

After all, wealth takes all kinds of forms. And without our health what good is all the gold in the world. So, if you have someone who needs a mental, spiritual or physical pick-me-up, present them with a Lucky Bamboo plant. You'll both feel better.

Think Twice About Picking Up A Penny

We barely pay attention to the lowly penny. There was a time we'd stop and pick one up off the street or sidewalk; collect a few of them and we'd buy — you guessed it — penny candy! I know. I'm aging myself. Still. . .

Now, we step over those pennies, determining they're not worth the effort of bending over. After all, it's just a penny! Think again.

First of all, finding a penny can signal good luck. If you find one, head's up, pick it up and keep it. Tails up, pick it up and examine it for the date, and if it's not a lucky one, spend it as soon as you can.

So, what makes a penny lucky? The year it was minted. Dimes also. Find one minted in a Leap Year and you're bound to attract wealth. Because there are so few leap years — and because legend tells us it's good luck to start a business in a Leap Year — these pennies are considered bearers of good fortune. Keep them in your kitchen to draw unexpected windfalls through the house and directly into your life.

Labor Day Gift

Can't believe it's September. And it's certainly going out with a bang. Luckily, except for some debris and spoiled food (lots of spoiled food -- couldn't cook it up fast enough on the gas grill), we survived Irene -- living without power for three days doesn't begin to match other people's hardships. You can bet I am counting our blessings and sending prayers to all those who suffered damage and injury.

Twenty years ago, on Labor Day, I broke my back in a boating accident (and trust me when I tell you I am NOT a boater) -- cast out of a small boat, when we hit a rouge wave. About two stories into the air, I dropped back into the boat shattering my vertebrae on impact, nearly paralyzing me at the waist. There again, I found myself counting my blessings, that day and every day, especially over the two year recovery period when I knew how bad it could have been. And every day since, even when pain strikes and my nerves fray over limitations; still, I can walk and play with the grandkids and enjoy a full life. Sometimes blessings are relative to what could have been, rather than what is.

Anyway, here it is Labor Day and most of us are saying goodnight Irene and where did the summer go all in one breath. Fun Reading, Fruitful Day

Went to a New Age Fair in my town, a very popular event that happens four times a year. Interestingly, it's held in the historic hamlet of our town, where we once hobbled witches and the nearby churches are pretty fundamental. Maybe it's the universe telling all of us to be open to one another and to possibilities.

I haven't had a psychic reading in a long time and decided it would be fun to see what an intuitive had to say. Twenty minutes for $20. I chose my reader rather randomly, but maybe there is no such thing and all choices are meant to be. His name is Adam Latin and he reads palms or uses the Tarot to access information from Spirit. "Both please," is what I told him when he asked which I'd prefer. A few minutes of palm and then the cards.

Well, dear Adam was pretty on target with me. Told me I was going to live to be 95 or so (we'll only know if that's on target when it happens and I wonder who among us will be here to verifty it!), but I asked, if I'd have enough money to survive to that age or would I be a bag lady (not the reality I'm looking for). Basically, he assured me that I'd always have enough money to pay the bills and live comfortably but that I needed to be careful about spending the "excess" money. I needed to separate wants from needs. I think I do a good job of that, but hmmmm. . . .was this $20 reading a want or a need?!?!

Meanwhile, I bumped into an astrologer I know and she told me she dances under the full moon every month and uses the ideas in my book all the time. And it's working for her. Think she was wearing a new blouse. Great color on her!!

The Many Forms of Abundance

I have to remind myself sometimes that abundance really does come in different forms; that we have to recognize it, and appreciate it, even as we were looking for it in a totally different place. Sound a little too "zen" for everyday application? Well, here's a for instance.

I've been struggling with some health issues lately and feeling like my earning power has been compromised. Thinking in negative terms of what I don't have right now, I found I wasn't able to attract any kind of wealth. Yet the universe wouldn't leave it alone: friends came out of the woodwork, sending cards and e-messages and calling even when I didn't call back. I began to feel wealthy, counting my richness not in dollars but in relationships. And that was the first step toward inviting abundance back into my life. With a new appreciation came a re-adjusted attitude.

Suddenly, I was able to find the energy and determination to complete the re-release of my gift-giving book -- Giving with Meaning -- in both paperback, Kindle and Nook and get my novels out on Smashwords for e-readers. Certainly, that's abundance in no small manner. And I even stumbled across a wonderful review of my Dancing Under the Full Moon Book. Next, a new editing job came my way!!

It all started with an adjustment in appreciation, knowing that our lives are made richer by all kinds of wealth. Thanks to everyone who helped me see this, and thank you all-giving universe.

Everyday Abundance

"Money comes in. Money goes out. And you have to live in between." These words from a burly man named Gus who made and lost money in the fishing industry, has six kids, 14 grandchildren, seven great grandkids and seems to find fun in every day moments. He'd taken us out on a boat, showing us the world class resort community of Miromar Lakes in southwest Florida. We were on vacation; he was working and feeling guilty that he actually makes money doing what he loves to do. "Hard to call this a job," he smiled.

As we (our family group of nine) toured the acres of lakes, Gus pointed out a million dollar house (plus or minus a few $$ -- I'm thinking plus; we weren't buying, only dreaming and having fun doing it!!). "See that house? Folks built it, moved in and he had a heart attack, died a month later. Enjoy life now. Don't wait until it's too late."

In that moment, Gus helped us remember just how rich we were, all of us together, the sun warming our face, riding in a boat skimming the water's surface, a late lunch by the water's edge. We could enjoy one another and the richness of the day and feel remarkably rich.

I'm going to make a point of "living in between," knowing the money will come in and go out and I will enjoy abundance in all of its forms every single day. Thanks, Gus, for the reminder. — ps

A Woman Named "B"

Her names is "B." Really. That's how she introduced herself, saying B and using hand quotes to emphasize the initial that stands for her name. And that's all I know about her. Except that yesterday, while vacationing in Florida, she took an excursion to Captiva (the land of Anne Morrow Lindbergh and Gifts from the Sea) and brought back five extraordinary shells she'd found in the ocean. By the resort style pool, I watched as she showed off her cache to a friend, large gray black shells laced with color, barnacles still attached. Walking by I commented on their beauty and she showed each one to me with pride and wonder. That was it. We both went about our day, vacationing in Paradise (or close to it given recent New England snow storms).

As my husband and I were leaving the pool for the day, "B" and I walked by each other and I told her to enjoy her beautiful shells. She stopped, smiled, reached into her bag and handed one to me. "I want you to have it," she said.

"I couldn't," I replied.

But she insisted and so I took it, telling her in this spontaneous act of sharing, she was inviting abundance into her life.

"I love giving to others," she told me. "Enjoy it."

I walked away with the shell, which will grace my home and remind me of a warm winter day in Florida and the brilliant full moon that came with the evening sky. A gift from the sea. A gift from a stranger named "B" who understands that what we put out into the universe we will have returned to us. And that sometimes the "return" is simply the good feeling of having reached out to a stranger.

Oh, To Be Human

I admit it: I'm human. And sometimes that means, despite my deepest desire to be generous of heart, I find myself feeling petty and jealous. I look around and see people who have been able, for instance, to "work the system," collecting severance (yes that means they've been ousted), along with pensions and unemployment, putting together a stream of income that looks pretty darn good from my chair. As Obama extends benefits yet again, there's no need or desire to aggressively look for a job. Yet, as my client list for freelance writing and marketing consulting dwindles in this economy, I have no safety net, no phone call to make on a Sunday night to collect benefits due to lost income. And I am not alone. All self-employed people are in this same sinking boat. No matter how hard and how long we've worked over the years, there is no unemployment check during dry spells. So, forgive me, I do have my moments of wanting to go to the mountain top and scream "not fair."

But the more I scream "not fair" and focus on the negative, guaranteed, the less able I am to attract money into my life. My mindset pushes away abundance. Besides, I may not have a lot of "more" these days, but I truly do have plenty. There are people who are really struggling, who need those benefits and who work two or three part-time minimum wage jobs trying to cobble together a decent wage to support the family. And they find a way to feel grateful. Happy for what they have, rather than focus on what they don't have.

And that's what I want to do. Every day. In some small way: be grateful for all that I do have; be happy for those who are able to get ahead from a system that promotes and allows it; be aware that the universe will provide as long as I open my arms and my heart. Human me is going to give it a good try! - ps

Attract Plenty

It's been a while since I've posted. I've been busy obtaining the rights to all my books (definitely a sign of abundance for me!) and getting them back out under the imprint Arcadia House.

Meanwhile, it's Thanksgiving week, always a good time to find grace even when times are hard and to count our blessings. There's also a "seasonal" way to attract plenty into your life.

Here's what to do: take a cornucopia (horn of plenty) or beautiful large shell, or even a decorative pot and fill it to the brim with "goodies" such as nuts and oranges and things that make you feel your life is brimming with good things to eat and drink. If you don't have those items, cut pictures from magazines, take photos or draw pictures. Don't skimp on what you put in here. Place it on your table, ideally across from a mirror. Watch as your life begins to fill with abundance in various forms. Plenty Attracts Plenty.

Love My Purple Wallet

Following Hint #86 in my book, I just purchased a purple wallet. The green shades were too apple green for me, but, as you know, purple is one of the wealth colors (green, purple, red, gold) and will draw money to you.

It started right away: not only was the wallet on sale, the sales clerk pulled out a coupon and offered it to me, giving me another 20% off. Right away, it felt like found money. Then, I got an e-mail order for Dancing Under the Full Moon and a new writing client.

I started believing (I mean, really believing) in the power of this new purple wallet and small amounts of money keep coming my way. I also make a point to always keep a few coins in the wallet (never let the coin purse go dry!!). All in all, the laws of attraction are at work in my life.

Small But Sweet

Well, I took a chance and danced under the Strawberry Moon the other night even though it was overcast here in CT and I had to imagine it more than I could see it. Today, I received a $10 check from some securities distribution fund for money they apparently owe me for a small retirement investment. I know, it's only $10, but money is money and the more we attract toward us, the more that will come our way.

You could say my full-moon dance worked, or you could say the check was on its way regardless. Who can figure it out?!?! But, I do know that I danced and I received. And that's all I really need to know.

It's a Strawberry Moon

Tonight's full moon is traditionally called the Full Strawberry Moon because June is strawberry-harvesting month. The name was universal to every Algonquin tribe, but in Europe they called it the Rose Moon, again related to the growing season.

Tonight, take a bowl of strawberries and eat them slowly and with intention as you watch the moon rise. Then dance to your heart's content, bare feet on the summer grass, the air still warm from the day's heat. Thank the universe for the abundance in your life and then ask you be granted even more, so that your days will be free and easy and you can find ways to share your new wealth.

Attract Abundance on the Summer Solstice

You can dance under the full moon to attract wealth; you can also attract abundance into your life on the Summer Solstice by planting seeds - both literally and metaphorically.

I know, I know . . . what's a meta fore?? In in this case, it's for helping your dreams come true.

Planting seeds is a way of giving back and expressing hope and belief in the future. It's a symbol of abundant thinking and we all know that abundance attracts abundance. Bring a plant or packet of seeds to your neighbor. Giving attracts receiving.

About the metaphoric part: plant seeds of hope and belief by stating your intentions. Acknowledge the goodness in your life, thank the universe and ask that you be blessed with continued and/or more wealth. You can even ask for a specific amount. As this longest day of the year comes to an end, write out your wealth desire on a slip of paper, place the paper under a green candle, which you light and let burn until darkness arrives. Pay attention to what happens in the days ahead. - ps

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to every man lucky enough to have children, lucky enough to enjoy the unconditional love it brings, and wise enough to fully embrace the responsibility entrusted to you.

I'm thankful for the wonderful, caring father I had in my formative and adult years, a dad who wasn't perfect (who is?) but always compassionate and loving, a dad who was always there when I needed him and taught me at an early age "not to judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes" and that it's not how much money you have (we didn't have much) but how much love you have that is the true measure of wealth. He died much too early but his photo in my writing room keeps his presence alive, as does the whispering I hear now and then from a source that could be only him. Ditto for my mother -- the legacy of love and the whispering!

I'm thankful for the man I married 37 years ago, a man who brought children into my life and continues to show me love in action through all the ways he expresses love for his children (my stepchildren) and our five grandchildren.

This to me is true abundance. And the more we love, the more love we receive. The more we feel wealthy, the more wealth seems to come our way. A wonderful circle of attraction. Embrace it. - ps

Believing Makes It So

I've been re-reading Sylvia Browne's book, The Other Side and Back, given to me in a spontaneous gesture from a fan of my novel Field of Destiny. The fact that someone just gave me the book is, in itself, an experience of abundance and we need to be mindful of the small ways people "gift" us and all the nearly invisible acts of grace in our daily lives. The more we're thankful for the abundance, the more that will come to us.

Anyway, back to Sylvia's book: she talks about affirmations and the importance of self-love. Not in the "how great I am" ego-centered kind of love, but in the "I am a child of God" and should honor myself kind of way. Through positive affirmations, we release the negative talk we actually believe about ourselves — I'm too fat; I'm poor and will never amount to anything; I'm hopeless, ETC — and we begin to embrace our positive loving side. A funny thing starts to happen, as we begin to believe we're worth something, we begin to attract all kinds of abundance.

The gift of her book to me was a sign of abundance; so was the new writing client that came my way after my daily affirmation for the past month. Like everyone, I sometimes focus on the wrong side of the coin. I see what I don't have instead of what I DO HAVE. As soon as I flip it around and affirm my belief, good things happen.

Look At That Moon Tonight

What a stunning full moon. I just heard on the news that it's the biggest and brightest moon of the entire year, due to it's proximity to the earth. It's cold (understatement) here in Connecticut but worth freezing a bit to go outside and fully appreciate it. Against the dark winter sky, it's am amazing sight. Last night, the beams streamed into our bedroom around 4 p.m., waking us up. What a gift. Liquid gold, for sure.

My sister-in-law, Dee, just posted on facebook that she's going to go out and dance under the full moon again this month, asking the universe to fill up her wallet and grace her with abundance. Every time she's done this ritual, a bit of money has come her way. And these days, every little bit helps!

Whether you dance for money, or dance for joy, just make sure to dance. As the song says, when you have a chance to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance. In the end, embracing life's small, graced moments is what will have made all the difference.

Live Generously

The tragedy in Haiti can't help but make each of us — no matter what our circumstances — feel blessed and rich. I can't even imagine having so little and having it ripped away by an unrelenting force of nature, time and time again, from floods to earthquakes. No water. No food. Mud cakes for sustenance. And yet, amidst it all, we see glimmers of hope. We see thankfulness for simply being alive. We see a generosity of spirit among the survivors and, remarkably, among the missionaries who have been flown out and are eager to return.

What about the rest of us? Even those of us struggling with money worries are living abundantly by comparison. If we look deep, there's money and time to spare, to help someone else. If not the people of Haiti, then the homeless person right around the corner, or the single parent unable to pay next month's rent. And, if we can't find "spare" resources, then let's give from our core. Let's make a sacrifice and make a difference.

According to the laws of attraction (and #57 in my book, Dancing Under the Full Moon), money is a form of energy and it must flow through our lives, not just into it. When we give to others, we're actually making room for more abundance in our own lives.

Choosing Abundance

In the spirit of full disclosure: my life is pretty comfortable. That doesn't mean, however, I don't worry about money or how we're going to afford to keep all the plates in the air. I often remind myself of the adage: want less or earn more. Easier said than done. Often my life is one of earning less and wanting more!! Call me human. Flawed but human.

What I do know, however, is that when I choose — and I mean choose — to focus on what I have, on the abundance in my life, I actually feel rich. And when I feel rich, I tend to attract more abundance. Classic Laws of Attraction at work. What we believe about our lives . . . what we focus on . . . is what we get more of. Suddenly, a new writing job comes my way. Or I get a "deal" on my Internet service, saving me a few dollars each month. Or an old friend comes back into my life, making me feel rich in a whole different way.

I look around the dinner table on "family day" and appreciate the four kids, three spouses and five grandchildren I've just cooked for. I smile at my sink of dirty dishes, focusing more on playing a game than cleaing up the mess.

My life in abundant. In choosing to embrace that, every day is a bit richer. May yours be also. - ps

Blue Moon: New Year

Watch for the rare Blue Moon tonight, the second full moon of the month and the first time a second full moon has appeared on New Year's Eve since 1990. The snow may obscure the moon here in the Northeast, but don't let it get in the way of attracting money into your life. Go outside and dance and ask the universe to continue sending abundance your way in 2010.

Wishing everyone a joyous and prosperous 2010. I hope this new decade brings renewed peace and prosperity to our world and to all of us individually. From my point of view, I'm not unhappy to see 2009 come to an end: we've been challenged by all sorts of family illness this past year. Blessedly, everyone is on the road to recovery and we're looking forward to renewed health for our loved ones.

I want to thank all of you who have supported my writing and all who purchased Dancing Under the Full Moon as holiday gifts. It was great to see so much activity on Amazon. It's an "evergreen" book that makes a great little gift for any occassion, so keep it in mind for future presents.

Found A Penny

Despite all my good intentions — and the advice in my money book, Dancing Under the Full Moon — I hadn't yet started my own penny jar to attract more money into my life. But then there it was on my walk yesterday, a single penny lying on the sidewalk right in front of me. I almost stepped right over it. But midair, I stopped, backed up and realized I couldn't just pass it by. The universe was beckoning. And the penny was lying heads-up, a sure sign of good luck. So now it sits on my desk until I find just the right bowl and then it will go by my front door, the first penny of many to help invite riches into my house. By the way, if you do find a penny and it's tails up, don't keep it. Pick it up, if you want, but spend it or give it away. Don't add it to your money bowl. It will have a negative impact.

Oh, and don't forget, another full moon is on the way. The months pass quickly, don't they. I particularly love those Harvest moons, and you'll find me dancing under it asking the kind universe to fill up my wallet. What about you?

It's Sunday afternoon and pouring here in Connecticut. A great day to light candles (green ones to attract money) and curl up with a good book. Or in my case, write a good book!

However, before doing any of that, it's the perfect day to try out an ancient money-attracting spell, #37 in my book, Dancing Under the Full Moon: 101 Ways to Attract Money into Your Life. According to folklore, this spell is foolproof in its ability to reverse money problems.

Lucky Seven

In my book, I talk about a Lucky Seven ritual to draw money into your life. I particularly like that one because 7 and 9 are my lucky numbers. They always have been. BUT I didn't know why until something dawned on me Sunday, the night of the full moon, as I was swaying and chanting and asking the universe to fill up my pockets. It was late and I had on my robe, so I opened up my pockets instead of my wallet to the light of the autumn moon and asked for abundance.

Anyway, I digress . . . my birthday is Nov. 17 and my sister's birthday (she's just a year younger) is Nov. 19 (if we were Irish, we'd be twins!!). Until I was 13, my mother had our birthdays confused, and I always thought mine was on the 19th. We straighted out our birth days, but always my two lucky numbers have been 7 and 9 and that must be why -- both serve as a piece of my early identity.

Oh, and if you want to perform the Lucky Seven ritual: inside a small pouch, place seven different denominations of money (paper and coins combined); add lavender, close the bag and carry it with you everywhere for seven days. Keep it closed the entire time. At the end of the seven days, put the pouch away (you can even open it) and be aware of how money has suddenly come you way -- the amount you placed in the pouch should have multiplied by seven. Give it a try. Let me know what happens.

Dancing Under the Full Moon is attracting money and attention and that's a good thing.

Tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 27 - 12:30 EST / 11:30 Central Time, I will be a guest on the Radio Show: Feng Shui Fabulous, hosted by DeAnna Radaj. Time permitting, she will be taking live call-in questions. We'll be talking about the power of attraction and how we have the ability to attract money into our life, changing our reality based on our beliefs about ourself and the universe.

Pea Soup and Money?

A reader just wrote to me saying she has a fridge full of lemons and is going to make lemonade precisely how I describe in my book — a magic formula of mixing and sipping — banishing bad money luck while inviting riches into your life. She’s not looking for a lot, but a bit of “found money” would be very welcome.

Meanwhile, she shared an old French Canadian custom, which calls for eating pea soup on New Year’s Day so you’ll be financially secure in the coming year. Apparently, she laughed, the “secret” is in the fact pea soup is so cheap that anyone who will make a meal of it will automatically save on the food. Or, this Canadian belief could be related to the Southern tradition of eating black-eyed peas for money luck, which has worked for centuries.

Give the pea soup a try. If you don’t want to wait for the new year, pick a date (your birthday or some other special day) and declare it your new year. Even if it doesn’t work, you’ll be all the richer for the experience and its creamy, warm broth! And, in the end, wealth is defined, not only by money, but by single moments, pure and true.

Under the Full Moon

Friday, September 4 is the next full moon. What an opportunity to invite money into your life. All you have to do is Dance, ask for what you want, and do it with conviction. Here's what to do: empty your wallet, go outside in view of the moon, and wave your empty wallet while you ask for money and do a little jig. You can sway, hip hop or tap; it doesn't matter. Just do it with feeling. In my book, Dancing Under the Full Moon, I tell you about a woman named Elaine Stone, who goes out every month, waves her empty wallet under the full moon and says "Fill 'er up" three times. According to her, it works 98% of the time. Not bad odds. And certainly worth trying, don't you think?

Today's Affirmations

Every day, since beginning work on my book, Dancing Under the Full Moon, I've made a practice of consciously reciting an affirmation about my belief in myself and in the universe's ability to provide me with opportunities for increased money. I don't just say the words . . . I don't just throw them out like the crumbs from my morning's breakfast — I concentrate on them, I own them, I try hard to believe them and I imagine the words floating from my lips out into the universe, on a soft breeze, ready to be heard, ready to be imagined and made true. Here are two I particularly enjoy saying over and over again: Everything I touch is a success; My income is constantly increasing.

Wonderful things have begun happening since I've engaged the universe in my plan for monetary success. My new book is finding an audience, I've gotten a couple of new copywriting clients, and my stock portfolio has risen!!
